I wish you could see yourself through my eyes.
You see an imperfect body, which you judge far too harshly.
But a few pounds to many or to few, show me your love and devotion to others.
You see the need for creams and possibly even surgery.
But the lines in your face show me the sorrow and joy you have experienced.
The aches and pains your body tells you about, makes you feel weak.
But your body shows me the hard work it has accomplished.
The depth of your eyes makes you sad, for all the sorrows you‘ve suffered.
But I see the compassion, love and joy you have given.
You dislike the thinning and gray of your hair.
But I see strands worn away with love, and replaced with the gift of silver.
You see yourself as an aging person, not as well as you use to be.
But I see a person that has given their all, everyday.
I wish you could see yourself through my eyes, and stop judging yourself to compete with your past. The years gone by have filled you with life’s experiences. You have grown with each passing day, emotionally, mentally, and above all — spiritually. You are a beautiful being, just as you are.
I wish you could see yourself through my eyes — with love and respect — Just as you should!
Author’s Note: Seeing ourselves as others see us through loving eyes is beautiful. Please remember to be kind to yourself, as you would someone you love. The photos are of my antique hand mirror. Original Story date: May 2013
